Generally boys are fond of hanging near the canteen during the school hours but it is swarmed with students during recess. Every student tries to get his item first. There is such a hurly burly during recess that one gets tired of the noise. There are some students who bring their lunch from home and dine in the canteen but most of boys buy cakes, pastries, biscuits, chocolates, lassi, soft drink or other items.
Our Head Master is very strict. He never allows the contractor to keep the eatables in open. All things must be kept covered. He also does not allow him to sell stale things. All the confectionery must be fresh and the milk must be boiled thoroughly before use. He visits the canteen to inspect it and ensure that the contractor respects the conditions laid down in the contract. Different teachers have been allotted the duty of seeing that no student creates rowdism at the canteen or misbehaves with the contractor. The contractor is also bound to sell the items at the approved rates and if there is any complaint in this respect the Head Master investigates the matter himself.
